The newly awarded National Institute of Antimicrobial Resistance Research and Education (NIAMRRE) at Iowa State University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director. The NIAMRRE will provide local, national, and international leadership in combating antimicrobial resistance, generating evidence-based solutions for antimicrobial stewardship, contributing to improvements in the health of animals, humans, and the environment (One Health), and facilitating economically and socially sound policy development and implementation. The Associate Director position will be responsible for the Institute’s operational management, directing and managing the day-to-day details of assuring the project activities, accountability and time lines are on track including 1) communicating with project stakeholders and members 2) monitoring progress towards all objectives, 3) supporting the leadership team in problem solving and anticipating future issues, 4) ensuring team accomplishment of activities and outcomes, and 5) assisting the Director and NIAMRRE leadership in building internal and external relationships with partners and sponsors associated with the project by promoting antimicrobial stewardship through integrated public outreach, extension and clinical training of health professionals. Responsibilities of the position include actively contributing to the oversight and management of the Institute, as well as providing counsel to the Director regarding key financial, organizational, and programmatic decisions, along with coordination of project activities and objectives across multiple institutions and other stakeholder groups. The successful candidate will be a leader and an effective team builder and have the capacity to help others work together to achieve shared goals. In order to be successful in this role, the candidate will possess demonstrated project management experience, excellent written and oral communication, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to synthesize and integrate diverse ideas and perspectives. Lastly, this position is expected to communicate with diverse audiences about highly technical information, therefore the successful candidate will possess excellent technical writing skills.
