Director of Outcomes Assessment
Reports To: Associate Dean for Clinical Education
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for the position of Director of Outcomes Assessment. The successful candidate will have responsibilities in the areas of outcomes assessment related to testing, metrics, curriculum mapping, accreditation standards, and instructional design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Work closely with the associate dean to direct, manage and support continuous academic assessment and improvement of student learning through the development, organization, analysis and timely reporting of student outcomes.
* Work collaboratively with the associate deans and faculty in the development of curricula, course material, evaluation, and instructional design.
* Assist faculty in the use of sound educational pedagogy to ensure assessment methods are valid, measurable, and appropriate.
* Provide consulting to faculty and staff on testing, cut-score setting and data management.
* Lead curricular assessment and testing policy revisions.
* Assess student performance on internal and external examinations and develop strategies to improve performance.
* Develop metrics in gathering assessment data to include the evaluation of student learning objectives.
* Work with the current curriculum mapping software to guide faculty, staff and students in training and program updates.
* Monitor the collection and mapping of curriculum and testing performance data, and distribute and interpret the data to administration, faculty and staff.
* Conduct research and training in the scholarship and technology of teaching and learning.
* Support the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive outcomes assessment programs that support the goals the CVM's strategic plan.
* Participate in the collection and analysis of various assessment data to support accreditation and program reviews, including dissemination of results and assisting others with understanding and appropriately using them.
* Interpret assessment findings and prepare annual and self-study reports to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
* Provide strategic advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing outcomes assessment.
* Record, store, manage, and disseminate confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
* Participation on college and university committees, local, regional and national organizations and in professional affairs in the community is expected. Additionally, the individual must be a team player and have a constructive and cooperative approach to faculty and institutional affairs.

Education and/or Experience
Applicants must possess a Ph.D., Ed.D. or other appropriate degree (such as D.V.M., D.O. or M.D.) in education, psychology, or a similar discipline. Experience and expertise in assessment, curriculum, and evaluation is required. A high level of problem-solving and interpersonal skills are also required, as are excellent oral and written communication skills. Medical or other health professions education experience is preferred
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Familiarity with curriculum mapping software is desired.
High skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, and boards of directors.
High skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Intermediate skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions and proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally push/pull items up to 25 pounds, vision correctable to 20/40 in one eye, hearing correctable to normal. Ability to tolerate repeated routine tasks.
