We are looking for an equine locum, preferably from September 2018 to March 2019, to cover maternity leave.
The locum will join our busy team comprised of three veterinarians, and two support staff. The easy going client base is an even mix of breeding, racing and pleasure horses, providing a tremendous variety of work in some of the most spectacular parts of the world.
When on call, the locum is required to be available for emergencies, including evenings (one night per week) and weekends (one in three). Surgical cases are referred.
Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience. A vehicle, phone and accommodation (if required) will be provided.
The successful applicant should have experience in reproduction, especially AI. Experience with frozen semen and embryo transfer would be an advantage, but not necessary.
Lameness examinations are also a moderate component of the workload, so experience in this area and particularly in radiography and ultrasonography would be of benefit.
Any other experience will be gladly welcomed.
The successful applicant must be able to be registered with the New Zealand Veterinary Council (see http://vetcouncil.org.nz/gainReg.php for registration eligibility).
