We are offering an opportunity for a talented veterinarian to join our amazing team here at Bend Equine Medical Center. Come live in the best place in the world, where the mountains are nearly on your doorstep, the hiking, biking, skiing, craft beers, fine dining and fly fishing opportunities are plentiful, and almost all the days are sunny! (Seriously, much to our dismay, Bend is listed as one of the top 10 places to live by one magazine or another about every other week.)
Our practice culture is absolutely focused on providing the best quality care to our patients and clients, while providing all of our team a great quality of life—we are family-friendly, have amazing support staff and interns, and believe equine practice does not have to mean working 90 hour work weeks during foaling season or being a road warrior working on their third divorce. There is a better way forward for equine practice and we have made it our reality!
We are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year, and growing rapidly (both equine and small animal!) by focusing on our clients, our referring vets, and practicing vet med the way we learned it and without compromise. Our mission statement says it all: BEMC is committed to providing exceptional equine health care with unparalleled compassion and superior service. Our doctors and staff are dedicated to fostering an environment of trust, mutual respect, and intellectual enrichment.
Our practice is hospital-based on a 23 acre campus with ambulatory as well, and we have all the bells and whistles. We have always aimed to provide university-level care in a private practice environment. We provide everything for high quality preventive care to colic surgery and fracture repair, on best friend trail horses and on some of the highest quality horses in the world. Our ideal candidate will have completed an equine internship and have at least 1-2 years of additional experience in high quality equine practice. They will like people as well as animals! Companion animal or small ruminant skills are a plus, as is specialization. The position will be full time, though a four day, 10 hour work week is an option for the right candidate. Emergency duty will be shared between four senior vets and two interns, averaging one weekend per month and 1 week night per week. Compensation is based on ProSal formula with a guaranteed base and percentage. Benefits include health and dental, professional memberships, 401k and plenty of CE—we embrace learning and expanding skill sets! There is potential for the right candidate to become a shareholder after 5 years.
