The candidate should have completed an equine internship and ideally have at least 2-3 years practical experience in the areas of sports medicine and rehabilitation.
You should have a strong interest in investigative lameness and diagnostics and be able to demonstrate this interest. Experience with research projects or an interest in research would be beneficial. This would be a long term position with close mentorship for the right candidate. This would be an ideal position for anyone wishing to consider ACVSMR certification through practice.About us: We are proud to be the only private practice in the Southeast of the USA with 2 board certified (ACVSMR) Sports Medicine practitioners, in addition to our 2 boarded surgeons (ACVS). We cater to high level racehorse and showhorse clients and provide a referral lameness investigation service to clients in central Florida. Ocala is considered the juvenile Thoroughbred training capital of the USA with many international racehorses receiving their early training here. We invest heavily in both continuing education and equipment including wireless digital radiography, digital ultrasonography, videoendoscopy, computerised ultrasonography (UTC), shockwave therapy, lameness locator, nuclear scintigraphy, and access to MRI.
