Assistant or Associate Professor - College of Veterinary Medicine - Food Animal Medicine
Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Pathology and Population Medicine invites applications for full time faculty positions in food animal medicine and surgery and in ambulatory medicine (food animal emphasis). These appointments can be tenure-track or non-tenure-track, depending on the goals of the applicant. A successful applicant will play an important role in teaching and mentoring veterinary students, developing the food animal program at Midwestern, and providing clinical service to the teaching herd and client owned livestock using an ambulatory clinic. He/she is also expected to develop an independent research project or participate in collaborative research.
Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides graduate and professional education in the health sciences. The University has two campuses -- one in Downers Grove, Illinois and the other in Glendale, Arizona. More than 6,000 full-time students are enrolled in graduate programs in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, cardiovascular perfusion, podiatry, optometry, clinical psychology, speech language pathology, and biomedical sciences. The Animal Health Institute is comprised of the Equine and Bovine Center, and The Necropsy and Pathology Center, Companion Animal Clinic. The Equine and Bovine Center is a large animal teaching facility housing small herds of cattle and horses. This facility includes a clinical skills teaching laboratory hosting a variety of large animal simulators and models, arenas, and live-animal indoor and outdoor teaching and treatment areas. A local dairy cow farm and dairy goat farm are also used as teaching facilities for the food animal clinical rotations. Midwestern University faculty are responsible for instructing students at these facilities.
