Our hospital is fully equipped for most surgical and medical procedures and MRI. The hospital is located in a beautiful area of southern California close to beaches and hiking. We welcome the interns as veterinarians and do not focus their internship on patient treatments. Our interns participate in daily exams, procedures, surgeries and emergencies. As our interns gain confidence, they will do ranch calls and emergencies independently. We strive for our interns to develop strong procedural skills and evaluations in all areas of equine medicine and surgery, to solidify their diagnostic and therapeutic plans, to gain confidence in case management, to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, to stimulate an interest in pursuing a rewarding career in equine veterinary medicine, to practice effective teamwork with colleagues, technical and clerical staff, to understand the business aspect of veterinary medicine and to learn to balance the demands of their career with their personal life. Weekly radiology and journal club rounds also provide an academic aspect that is very valuable in learning and case research/management. See our Facebook page or website or contact us for more information.
The intern candidate should have excellent horsemanship skills, great communication skills and a positive team oriented outlook. A degree in veterinary medicine is required and passage of the NAVLE is preferred. We will consider applicants from a non US accredited school if the applicant is eligible for E3 or H1B visas and it can be obtained in a timely manner.
