Green Glen Equine Hospital is pleased to announce the addition of a new equine surgery/sports medicine position. Our growing, 100% equine practice is seeking a committed, enthusiastic candidate to join our current team of 5 veterinarians and many long term staff members. We are well established, having been in business at the same location for 48 years. All of our veterinarians share clients and work with different support staff members on a day to day basis. Our practice is a full service general practice with a large lameness component. We provide care for multiple disciplines including TB race, hunter/jumper, dressage, barrel racing, eventing, western pleasure and many others.
Our current surgical caseload consists of elective soft tissue and orthopedic cases, performed by an outside surgeon on an ‘as needed’ basis. In order to meet the needs of our growing client base for both elective and emergency cases, we are looking to hire a full-time surgeon.
Our surgical facility has recently been renovated and includes a new surgery suite, two padded induction/recovery stalls, an updated designated exam area and a newly expanded offices. We have all the cutting edge equipment and technology including advanced diagnostic imaging (endoscopy, gastroscopy, arthroscopy, DR, US) in-house laboratory, alternative medicine, and regenerative therapies to support our hospital and field service caseload.
Located in beautiful South Central Pennsylvania, we are just 1 hour north of Baltimore, 2 hours to either Washington DC or Philadelphia, and 30 minutes to historic Gettysburg. The local area provides a plethora of outdoor activities including multiple state parks for hiking, biking, fishing, riding, skiing or boating. This is a great place to live and raise a family. This is a unique opportunity for both personal and professional growth; we are searching for a long-term addition to our team.
The ideal candidate is boarded or board eligible in large animal surgery. Candidates should have strong communication skills, an energetic attitude, empathy, compassion and enthusiasm for helping clients and patients. In addition to surgical duties and outpatient cases, the candidate would be actively involved in the sports medicine caseload both in the hospital and in the field. We are a team and function as one. It is also imperative that the candidate be able to laugh and have fun on a daily basis - sense of humor a must.
