A long standing equine internship is offered. Interns will work with a wide variety of medical and surgical cases Interns experience customized to skill level and motivation. Hands-on approach and independent thinking encouraged, but direct supervision provided. Proficiency in general practice procedures will be developed. Interns will become skilled at physical exams; colic exams including rectals and tubing; lameness exams including joint injections, nerve blocks, xrays and ultrasounds; minor surgeries including wounds and castrations and more. Assist with daily outpatient work-ups, anesthesia and surgical procedures; manage hospitalized patients; develop treatment plans. Responsible for after-hours treatments and admission and work-up of emergencies.Emergency duty shared between interns. Intern on primary call performs initial evaluation and if surgery is necessary intern on secondary call runs anesthesia.
