I am going back to the ad title that has given the best result. It seems a little quirky, but has brought the most inquires. So..........here is the repeat........
Now, here is the part I did not expect. Both of the positive responses that have led to a contract and another serious inquiry were originated by family members that were checking the AVMA Job Center to facilitate a veterinarian finding a job! I did not even know that the Job Center was open to the public. I should have figured that out.
In addition, apparently classmates are keeping in touch with each other with social media. There seems to be alot of sharing. They know when each other are in a good or bad situation.
When I read an applicant's cover letter, most seem to match up with our practice pretty well. To be part of a community, mentorship, a balanced life, well-equipped and a well-trained staff. Check.
But then, the hesitancy sets in. Natural. Making a change it your situation is scarey, even if you are not happy where you are. A few suggestions: If you are considering a change in career direction, I suggest reading the book Quitter by Jon Acuff. It is not about you being a quitter, it is about how to disengage with one job while starting another. The other book is Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D.
Know someone unhappy in their situation that is looking for a fresh start in an exciting, yet caring and compassionate environment? Have them contact me.
